This is a great pen for outside. I use on my patio. Be sure you order the swing thru gate, this is a must!! By mistake I ordered the gate for pet only! I'm 70 and the height of pen is too high for me to reach over, or climb over to clean. I tried to order just a gate, but company does not offer only a gate. I don't use this pen as often because of the gate problem. Pen quality and UV cover is excellent.

I wanted a cover for a crate that would allow air to circulate yet provide relief from the sun/heat. This one works real well! Certainly blocks sun and heat buildup. It's the right size for a large crate and does exactly what I want it to do. I know it's designed for an ex-pen but if you need a crate cover, give it a try.

2 of the cover ties would not thread because they were coming unraveled on the ends, and the cover comes over the door on the top so that the door cannot open properly when the cover is tied over the the top of the pen. This is a huge design problem. I would never recommend it.
